Strategic sense about banking; "The art and science of economic policy" on Coursera; Episodes 25,26 of Everything is everything
Strategic sense about banking
At the 14th Emerging Markets Conference, there was a great talk by Arnoud W. A. Boot from the University of Amsterdam about the future of banking. These elements are central to understanding the future of finance, and forming a strategic sense as a decision maker, either in a financial firm or in public policy surrounding finance. I drew on his talk to write The forces reshaping banking in the Business Standard yesterday, where I also bring an Indian perspective on what we see in Indian finance.

Episodes 25,26 of Everything is everything
The foundations of political economy and political philosophy are about the creature that is the state. What is the state? When is state intervention justified? What shapes the possibility of successful implementation of state intervention? In episodes 25 and 26 of Everything is Everything, Amit Varma and I establish these foundations for thinking about the world. As always, the show notes have the reading lists.
