Government contracting; CPI got back into the 2-6 zone
My column in the Business Standard today is The bottleneck of government contracting. Improving the ability of government to engage in contracts with private firms is a tangible work area which will yield gains across many fields.
Through calendar 2020, headline inflation was uncomfortably high, and some got nervous about the extent to which inflation targeting was hampering monetary policy. The CPI in December got back into the target zone. I wrote a short article in The Leap Blog on 15 January, reflecting on macroeconomic analysis in the last year.
